Our Story
hi there,
We are the owners of The Brown Bag Market. Two families with one mission to bring something unique and authentic to the community of Wauseon.
The idea came about after the closing of Kathie McClarren's quilt shop she ran with her mother. Wanting to continue utilizing the space, she asked her friend Viola Coblentz if she would like to open a specialty grocery store. Viola grew up around Amish Country so she was thrilled.
5 years later the love Kathie and Viola have for their small town has only grown stronger. Viola is constantly keeping the shelves stocked and stomachs full while Kathie is full of ideas and stays in tune with current trends. They both love to play with their grandkids, travel and attend North Clinton church where Viola's husband is the pastor.
